Group Piano Classes
Group classes for ages 4-5 - "Mini-Musicians"
My Mini-Musicians class is an educational program that focuses on teaching piano concepts and music appreciation to children 4 to 5 years old. By appealing to individual learning styles, this program enables your child to explore the piano and easily learn music concepts. We will use the piano, table bells, scarves, and small percussion instruments to enjoy our music-making! There is no practice requirement for this course. It is a great introduction to the piano for students who will take private lessons in the future!
Classes are Mondays from 5:30-6:00 PM
Group classes for ages 5-9 - Beginner Pianists
Piano is the heart of the group classes and each student will have their own keyboard in class! We will also use fun age appropriate activities and games to enhance general music theory concepts. For the younger students, we will be using table bells, scarves, and all ages of students love using hand percussion to work on rhythms! We listen to and sing songs and I also have a library of over 100 music theory games which students love! Classes start without a book and once I am confident they are ready for a method book we will begin working through one together. For the groups classes, I love to use the Wunderkeys method books!
Classes are grouped by ages 5-7 and 7-9 being in class together. Each student will have their own keyboard in class and encouraged to have an instrument at home to practice on. Class times: Tuesdays 5:30-6 for ages 5-7 and Wednesdays 5:30-6:15 for ages 7-9.

Group class info:

Mondays 5:30-6 - ages 4-5

Wednesdays 5:30-6:15 - ages 7-9 FULL (standby available)
Meet and Greet: First classes the week of September 11 are a meet and greet time for students and parents to become acquainted with me and each other. The students can explore the studio instruments and materials without structured class time. I have found this meet and greet time is essential to the comfort of the students and increases their ability to learn in subsequent classes exponentially.
Continuation sessions: There may be an option to renew to Session 2 in Spring if enough interest to form a class
Location: My studio is in a commercial building called the Aquidneck Tradesman Center on Aquidneck Avenue, unit 8 Second floor. There are two rooms, one of which is a waiting area for family members. I have found that students do much better without parents in the room so during classes I ask family to please wait in the waiting area or you may leave and return for pickup time.
Fee: $28/class billed monthly or pay up-front ($364 for the entire session)
Registration: a $28 non-refundable registration fee will be due upon registration for the class and will be applied to the first class fee. If you end up changing your mind you will not receive the registration fee back. To register just let me know you would like to enroll and I will collect payment and more information. Email me at music@loraleeswanson.com.
